This gallery is the personal memory from the March of the living 2005. It focuses on the beauty, diversity and resilience of the Jewish people, today, decades after it seems that the story of the Jewish people has ended in the ashes of the Holocaust.
Rabbi Meir Yisrael Lau said that his first time he returned to Birkenau, he saw the Yiddish word nekama (revenge) written on one of the barracks. “But, what is revenge?”, asked the Rabbi.
“The revenge is that we are here. The revenge is that we are home; the revenge is in that we have a homeland; the revenge is in that we have a garden of Israel; the revenge is that we have come here with a blue-and-white flag and a Star of David.”
